Raf Caers

Raf is attorney at GEVERS Belgium since 2010. He is specialized in European and Belgian patent law and practice, with a particular focus on chemistry related patent matters. He has experience in industrial organic chemicals, their industry and their related techniques, such as chemistry and thermodynamics.

Competence

He advises you on patentability of inventions, patent procurement strategies, patent infringement and enforcement, patent validity, technology and patent related agreements. He defends you in patent prosecution, opposition proceedings, patent infringement and nullity actions. His clients include national and international corporations. He handles cases in English and Dutch and is sufficiently proficient in French and German to also handle texts written in those languages. He also handles French-speaking inventors.

Experience

He is graduated from the University of Leuven (Belgium) as Master in Chemical Engineering and Master in Industrial Management. Later on qualified as European and as Belgian Patent Attorney. He collected over 33 years of industrial experience, with Exxonmobil in Refinery and Petrochemical activities, holding technical, commercial, R&D and IP legal positions.  Raf is named as an inventor on over 40 patent families. He is member of The European Patent Institute (EPI), KViV, UiLv and has been tutoring on European Patent Law and Practice, within the framework of EPI and CEIPI. He also published articles about technical and business subjects.
