Since a design is only valid if it is new and has an individual character, searching the registers to check whether a design has already been registered is not sufficient. Researching literature, magazines or the Internet is therefore important. Beside the possibility to ascertain whether a design has already been registered and published, we can also check which design(s) are registered and published in the name of a certain holder by instituting Design Register searches.
